Some visitors noted the lack of proper ventilation during busy hours, leading to a stuffy dining experience. A few diners found the appetizers lacking in authentic Malaysian flair, suggesting a more adventurous approach could elevate the starter options. While the prices may seem high to some, the portion sizes generally make up for it. However, a few patrons expressed that quantity shouldn't sacrifice the authenticity of the dishes. Overall, these critiques do not overshadow the restaurant's strengths but highlight areas for improvement.
my third time coming here and i'm always leaving with a fully satisfied tummy!! the food was amazing, definitely one of the best malaysian restaurant in the uk!! highly recommend the char kway teow and ayam masak merah :)
Sambal was a great experience my friend showing me what real Malaysian food is. The hospitality was great, backed up by fantastic tasting food, everything was good but in particular I enjoyed the roti canai and the lamb rendang with my friend saying the buttermilk prawns are 100% worth getting. Thank you to everyone there for the experience we will be back anytime in Manchester.
Best roti canai ive ever had in my life! Ate here on a date and had suchhhh yummy food :) the staff and owner were so wonderful and kind. Felt like such a gem. We also had the nasi lemak with chicken rendang - phenomenal! And a spicy noodle dish ❤️🔥
Food was delicious! Best Malaysian food I have had outside of Malaysia to date. Absolutely loved the flavour of the chicken curry (licked the bowl clean) with the roti and would go back and order it as a main. Char Keow Teow was also delicious with the right balance of flavours, the rendang was also nice but not as great as the other two dishes. Service was good and inside was pretty relaxed eatery. The price seems high however the portion sizes were big. Will definitely be back and highly recommend!
The appetiser doesn’t really scream Malaysian. But man, the nasi lemak rendang chicken and the char kuey teow, bring you straight back home. Lovely and friendly staff, speedy service. But I think restaurant could use some ventilation like fan or air conditioning. It was Friday evening and restaurant was packed, relying on one barely working tower fan is quite bad and stuffy for the restaurant.
The Malaysian restaurant to go in Manchester region. Great variety of Malaysian food available with good portion. Starters wise the satay, rojak and roti canai with curry is pretty good although the price for the satay is a little on the higher side. Mee Goreng and Nasi Lemak both are pretty good main options. Good variety of Malaysian drinks available as well. If looking for Malaysian restaurant in Manchester this would be their one to go. Limited parking outside. Sometimes can get a little busy during weekends so might need to book prior but otherwise seats are usually available. Waiting time varies with crowd.
Absolutely 10/10! Every bite took us right back to our unforgettable trip to Malaysia. The flavors were spot on and the food was simply perfect. We’ll definitely be returning soon!
Sambal shines with its Char Kway Teow and Lamb Rendang. Don’t miss the Mee Goreng for a spicy kick and Roti Canai for a delightful starter.
